For our Creative Fashion Presentations class we made a video lookbook presentation to showcase our store we created called Hidden Treasure. It is a consignment store so all of the pieces are previously owned. Our video showcases all thrifted and vintage pieces and we did this to show that you can still look stylish without hurting the environment. We had a great time making the project — It allowed us to have a lot of creative freedom and fun! Also, most importantly, it let us shed light on an important topic and speed the idea of sustainable shopping.

Painting nails may have started as early as 3000 BC, but fun nail art is a becoming a widely adopted trend. On social media and in person I have seen a huge following of crazy cool nails! Different colors for each nails, patterns, words and more. We often forget that nails are an accessory. They are a great way to show off your style and add to your look. It also truly can be an art form and a very interesting representation of someone’s creativity. It takes major talent and a steady hand to paint on a canvas as small as a nail so shout out to the nail techs out there! Here are some of my favorite looks and nail artists! What nails would you try?
Lets look at Lookbooks! Lookbooks are an amazing way a brand can show off their new line or products. Whether it is in video or photo format, it shows the products in use and provides a view at how the consumer can rock it. It helps to see the product to believe you need to buy it!
Above is Zadig and Voltaire’s Spring Summer 2019 Lookbook. Personally, I love it! I think it is such a fun and interesting way to show the product and other items that go with it. You can see the Western influence in a lot of garments along with some really fun elements like tie-dye. I think it is an important selling strategy because by showing an outfit and not just on item, the consumer might by the whole look rather than a piece.
Trunk shows were originally a great way for designers to directly sell to consumers. They are a great way to test out new product before making a huge commitment on a big order, give the customers a chance to meet the designer, and the designer a chance to make personal relationships with customers, ultimately resulting in brand loyalty and new clientele. Today they are still extremely important for smaller brands. It gives them the exposure they need to reach a bigger audience that they wouldn’t get otherwise if they were just online or just unknown. Also, trunk shows are important for special occasions, like wedding dress hunting, because it allows the customer to work with the designer or sales executive directly to exactly achieve the perfect dress for the big day.
Here is a mock Trunk Show invitation I made for Urban Outfitters Mens!
Saint Laurent Fall 2019 Ready-to-Wear collection was one of my favorite runway shows from Spring 2019. Chiseled and sculpted lines, fluorescent lights, glow in the dark and eighties flare! The very itty bitty shorts, sheer patterned tights, transparent tops, sequins, ruffles, bows and sexy dresses kept it playful, bad-ass and feminine, but there is a touch of menswear, with the broad, strong tailored shoulder blazers and trousers. There was also an array of mens looks, which all consisted of tight fights, lots of black and white stripes and an overall rock-ish vibe. The finale, with the black light, was a really cool aspect and screamed the 80’s. Bright, neon, fuzzy and frilly, it was so fun to watch. It was also reminiscent of the new Louis Vuitton neon and glow in the dark bags that are blowing up which I found very interesting. Neon is definitely in and is not going anywhere anytime soon!
This post is all about zebra! It’s fun, funky and a fresh addition to anything! Whether it’s fashion or lifestyle, zebra print can be easily incorporated to take your look to the next level.
CLOTHING

These are two ways I wore zebra print. These are more of statement pieces that were the main focus of the looks. These pieces add a really cool and edgy element that is so fun to rock.

Another really cool way to integrate zebra into your life is in your home decor. Whether its a pillow, artwork, or even a rug! The rug picture is taken in my apartment. I love the fun and trendy vibe it give to the place, it really livens it up!
ACCESSORIES

If a zebra coat is too much, you can always rock zebra in your accessories. Zebra belts, bags or earrings are just a few ideas that you could adopt! These zebra platforms are a little intense, but they are so exciting to wear and really take a look to the next level.
As a retailer who usually has great window displays, Bergdorf Goodman did not disappoint. However, there were many windows under construction, most likely due to the season beginning to change. Almost every window carried a different theme except the two dedicated to the “Newer than New” products. There was also a window dedicated to Karl Lagerfeld, may he rest in peace. There were colors, fabrics and silhouettes of all kinds.
Macy’s

All of Macy’s windows included the same mood and color scheme. Blue was the main color and it had an overall vibe of the transitioning into the spring season. There was a good bit of denim and other cotton fabrics, and lots of white and blue stripes.
Versace

Versace’s windows were a completely different look than the other two previously mentioned. They were a lot more edgy and what is currently considered trendy. Both looks have a good bit of leather and the windows (and outfits) as a whole stick to a black, white and red color scheme.
Zara
Photos taken by Emily Engibous
Zara’s windows were fairly simple, with a plain background that leaves the focus on the clothes. The silhouettes are quite loose and a-line while the colors are neutral with a pop of yellow. The fabric choices are light and primarily polyester or cotton blends.
Any similarities?
Looking at all of the window displays, they showed transitional clothing from winter to spring. The silhouettes were primarily loose and light, with the exception of Versace. However, all of the presentations were executed very differently and the stores on the luxury end were much more extravagant and creative. What do you think?
Spring is finally coming! Woohoo! And as the season changes, it’s time to be on lookout for those next big trends. After looking at forecasting service reports and runways, here are two items that are predicted to be essential for this spring.
BELTED BLAZERS
Pictures from Doneger, Fashion Snoops and WGSN
This trend is so cool and I already see it is going to be so popular. Brands like I Am Gia are adopting this concept and have created super cute products. Blazers of all kinds are gaining major traction… Blazer dresses, oversized blazers, stain blazers, leather blazers. I don’t know about y’all, but I can’t get enough of them!

BRA TOPS

It’ll be a while until New Yorkers can rock this trend without layers due to the freakishly long winters, but bra tops are bound to be huge! You can already see them creeping up all over, whether its a matching bra top and biker short set or a cute bustier-like going out top. They are so simple to wear, but add such a sexy, feminine element to your outfit. I’ll take them all!
I ran into this babe down in the East Village and I absolutely loved her look! Lets pick apart the trends she’s wearing.
Bucket Hat ✅
Chunky Boots ✅
Utilitarian/Functional Coat ✅
The utility/functional style of clothing has been a massive trend, from cargo pants, to purposeful jackets, to chunky boots! Her boots and her jacket perfectly coincide with this direction in fashion. This style of dress can be easily adopted into many different clothes and accessories, along with the fact that it can be produced in multiple styles and color-ways. The result is something for everyone! Articles in this category, such as cargo pants, are extremely popular and are continually being innovated into new, cool designs.
She is also representing the widely accepted trend of bucket hats, which is one I know I have been loving. They are so easy to wear and add a little something extra to your outfit! They are now available in all sorts of colors, fabrics, and patterns and are the cherry on top to you outfit sundae!

I found this guy thrifting at Buffalo Exchange! Lets see what trends he was sporting this day.
Graphic Tee ✅
Chunky Boots ✅
Shearling Leather Jacket ✅
Comparing to the first picture, we see a repetition of some items! Dr. Martens are so HUGE right now, whether they are platform, basic, short or long. Again, under the umbrella of utility clothing, this style is growing rapidly among all groups and can be found at all price points. These kind of boots are an easy way to introduce this style into your wardrobe if you’re too scared to go all out.
Graphic tees are becoming a staple in most peoples closets because of they’re effortless coolness. In a society like today, efficiency is key. Graphic tees are so easy to throw on and look like you somewhat tried, who wouldn’t want one!?
Alongside the tee, we see the highly popular shearling leather jacket, which is a jacket taking a home in numerous closets. The growth in popularity has resulted in a wide variety of color-ways too! Retailers of all price point have created one of these jackets, so there really is one for everyone. The design is not too innovative or scary for the average consumer, but is still fashion-forward enough and is bound to make any outfit look cute!
photo taken by my roommate ❤
Oh hey, it’s me! Here is a picture I had my roommate take of me clothed in some of today’s trends. The trends that I am wearing:
Bucket Hat ✅
Animal Print ✅
Funny enough, I am wearing the same bucket hat as the lovely lady in the first photo! I told you it was a trend I was loving. They are useful when its sunny and you want to block your face, and the faux fur or fuzzy ones keep your head nice and toasty when it’s brisk out. They are also appearing on current runways and influencers so I don’t think they’re going anywhere anytime soon.
I also love animal print, which has dominated the industry and you can now basically find it in any store, in any style and in every kind of print. They are all the buzz right now. It can simply be transcribed into almost any fashion category, whether it’s small details or accessories for the non-trend setter customer, or a zebra coat and platforms for a girl like me.
Whether it’s food, fun or fashion, a girl can always use some inspo! These are just three of the many blogs that I love and highly recommend to any other NYC babes (and not NYC babes) out there.
This one may not be everyones cup of tea, but Oh She Glows is hands down one of my favorite vegan food blogs. As of January 26th, I officially entered my fourth year of being vegan, and I can honestly say that I have made (and enjoyed) multiple recipes from this blog. I even bought one of her cookbooks! Her story is inspirational and her recipes “inspire you to embrace more plant-based foods in your diet without feeling the least bit deprived.”
